Our students were quick to adjust to our new entry and exit procedures.  Just a reminder to parents that our students now enter and exit at door #2.  Students are asked to line up as soon as the bell rings because we are now the first classes to come into the school.

Students are starting to discover a variety of areas that they are interested in and some wonderful wonders are starting to surface.  We have heard many questions around the topics of endangered animals, ocean pollution, oil spills in Alberta, dinosaur extinction and fossil discoveries, global warming, pollution, and native traditions and survival.  We are excited to meet as a whole group to share our wonders.

We continued to work on our web about ourselves so that we have at least 5 interesting topics to write paragraphs about ourselves.  We will begin writing our detailed paragraphs tomorrow.

Ms. Rauser continued to read Fable Haven and today a new character was introduced in the book.  The author used very descriptive detail so that we could have an image of the character in our mind.

In math we continued to work on the problem that we were introduced to yesterday.  Many of the students found an answer by using guess and check, drawing or using manipulatives.  It was a tricky problem and we are very proud of the students who persevered and kept trying until they found a solution.

Daily 5 - We are thrilled that the students successfully did 'Read to Self' for 10 minutes two times today.  We are excited to increase this time throughout the rest of this week and then begin introducing Buddy Read.  Students are encouraged to read every night for at least 10 minutes.  Once we have a parent volunteer for doing home reading, we will begin sending home books with the students.  Students are always encouraged to also read their own books at home.

Stay warm and dry!
