**As our classes are the LAST to come in our doors in the morning it is important that students dress for the weather. Please help your child remember to wear more than just a sweater or light jacket in this weather. We had many shivering children as they didn't anticipate how chilly it would be and that there would be a light rain.
OUR LINES WILL LOOK DIFFERENT TOMORROW and our students will come in door#2. We will line up on the compound. Door #1 has been closed for safety reasons. Teachers will be outside tomorrow helping students find their new line.
We are spending time this week to discover what our students are interested in and excited about. Last week we used many interesting photos to spark wonders and conversations and today we started looking at books of many different topics. We will continue to give the students time this week to explore these books as we listen and ask them about their wonders and interests. Encourage your child to share with you what they are excited to learn about this year.
Students were introduced to 'Making Words' today. They used letters to make words beginning with short words and continuing with bigger words until the final word was made. The final word included all the letters they have. With this activity, students discover letter-sound relationships and learn how to look for patterns in a word.
Our writing project for this week is an autobiography that the students will write about themselves answering at least 5 questions from the interview questions we brainstormed last week. We started today by making a web to organize our questions and thoughts before we begin writing. We are excited to learn more about each of our students from this writing project.
In math we learned a new game entitled 'Greedy'. Ask your child how to play it!! Students were then challenged to a math brain teaser about Grandmas and Trolls. They worked in partners to solve this problem that involved strategy and thinking skills!
