Wednesday, September 10

The students were very involved this morning as they began to record their questions and wonders in the inquiry notebooks.  In the afternoon the students did a survey using tallies to determine what topics they are most interested in.  Tomorrow we will learn to use the tally information to create a graph.

In writing, each student chose one topic from their 'Me' web to write a very detailed paragraph about.  We talked about the difference between list writing(robot writing) and interesting detailed writing.  For the rest of the week, we will continue to practice writing detailed paragraphs with all five topics from our 'Me' webs.

Wow  Room 79 and 80 are a group of amazing readers! We did 'Read to Self' easily for 15 minutes today.  We introduced 'Read to a Buddy' and practiced it for 8 minutes successfully.  Mrs. Cooper and Ms. Rauser are very proud of our students.

From the Office

As you know, at Cranston School, we practice 'borderless' classrooms, which essentially means that our students use all of the school as a learning space, not just their own classrooms.  It has come to our attention that we have several students in our care who have severe allergies and require the use of an identification bracelet as well as an Epi-Pen or asthma Inhaler. We are asking that these students have a fanny pack in which to store the EpiPen or asthma Inhaler, so that they may take it from place to place throughout the school as well as on fieldtrips.  We also suggest that a back up EpiPen should be supplied to the office in case the first EpiPen malfunctions.  Co-op medical supply offers small fanny pouches that are slim and can be worn under the shirt.  Lastly, many students wear funky bracelets that declare their allergies and are trendy, thus making them feel less awkward.  Your cooperation is greatly appreciated in this matter and we will assist you in whatever manner we can.
Thank you.
