Thursday Sept. 4th, 2014

It was another wonderful day with our students! We were busy and working hard all day.  The students continued to explore, discuss and wonder about pictures that we started to look at yesterday in small groups.  They have many interesting questions about rain forests, different kind of pollution, oil sands, animal extinction and the impact we have on the world.  We are excited to begin exploring some of their wonders and questions further.

Ms. Rauser's class learned the game that Mrs. Cooper's class played yesterday, Race to 100.  We gave the students a challenge to find the value of their names.  Some students did their first name and others did their last name or both.

We learned an interesting word, 'antiquated', during our read aloud today.  We used the computer to look up how to pronounce it and then the meaning of it.  We discovered that when you come to a word that you do not know in a book it is good to find out the meaning so that you understand what you are reading! Ask your child if they remember what the word means.  ;0)

Things to remember

1. You had a very important document package come home yesterday.  If you did not fill it out and send it in for today, please do that as soon as possible.

2.  Make sure you bring back your Home Communication Folder every day!

3.  Make sure you bring in indoor shoes if you haven't already.

4.  Entertainment book fundraising is from Sept. 5th to Sept. 22nd.   We had a kick off assembly today to introduce the fundraising to the students

5.  Thursday Sept 17th, from 4 to 7pm, there will be a meet the teacher evening.

A note from the Office:

There are 3 bells in the am and the pm.

The first bell is a warning bell at 8:13 am and 12:10 pm which sends teachers outside for supervision.  The next bells are at 8:24 am and 12:23 pm and these bells bring in Kindergarten children only.  The final bells at 8:27 am and 12:25 pm bring in the grades 1-4 children.
